Cloverdale’s Star Restaurant supports local vets
Star Restaurant in Cloverdale is inviting the community to stop by Monday, Aug. 5 between 5 and 8 p.m., enjoy one of their delicious hamburgers and support local veterans at the same time.
Private donations have made it possible for Star to offer a complete hamburger meal with fries and soda for only $10, all of which will be donated to Cloverdale’s William Russell Ledford American Legion Post #293 and Ray Zittleman Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9268.
Each Post will then be able to use the money at their discretion to benefit Cloverdale veterans, both retired and active duty.
Posters and other military memorabilia will be on display as a way to recognize and honor veterans for their service.
According to waitress Robin Black, “If someone would rather purchase a hamburger meal for one of our veterans as well, that would be wonderful, too. These are our fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters and friends. We owe them a tremendous debt of gratitude for their sacrifices.”
She said travelers who have stopped in to eat and heard about the fundraiser have already donated nearly $100.
For those wishing to contribute more, but might prefer remaining anonymous, there will be envelopes at each table that can be dropped off at the front counter as they leave the restaurant.
Although the official time for the fundraiser is 5 to 8 p.m., staff says they will keep the doors open as long as people continue to come by.
Star Restaurant is located at 1123-A S. Cloverdale Blvd. in the Furber Shopping Plaza. Call them at 894-0555 for more information.
