Stock a Student Classroom project underway
For the past three years, the United Church of Cloverdale, with support from local churches, community groups and service clubs, has organized a summer program they call “Stock a Student Classroom” to collect needed school supplies for Jefferson and Washington schools.
According to Lavonne Blucher-Nameny, “Our program has been a huge success, thanks to the generous community of Cloverdale. Last year, in addition to all of the pencils, binders, notebooks and other items, we received $1,700 in cash. This money was used to purchase additional classroom supplies.”
Donation boxes are located around town at Antiques & Uniques, Cloverdale Pharmacy, Clover Springs Lodge, Fire Station, Library, Mail Center, Management Connections, Owl Café, Police Station, Ruth McGowan’s, Tian Yuen, Vino di Amore, and Yogurtdale Blvd. Boxes will be emptied one final time the week of August 26.
Bring in a “Dine & Donate” flyer to Mary’s Pizza Shack, 1143 S. Cloverdale Blvd., any time on Tuesday, August 6 and Mary’s will donate 20% of your purchase (or 10% of gift certificate purchases) to the project.
Flyers can be picked up at the Library, the Lodge at Clover Springs, or any of Cloverdale’s barber shops or hair salons.
