HOT BUTTERED RUM
Winery Sponsor – Kokomo
Concert Sponsors – Exchange Bank / Low Knob Press
Friday Night Live, Cloverdale’s free outdoor summer concert series presented by the Cloverdale Arts Alliance, continues at 7 pm. this Friday, July 12, with the progressive bluegrass sounds of Hot Buttered Rum on the Downtown Plaza stage.
Initially formed as an acoustic string band, seven years of constant touring has transformed the group into a plugged-in, percussive powerhouse that wows critics and fans alike. Their left-coast rock reveals an access to jazz, country, and world music that few groups can match. While their music belies simple categorization, the band’s songwriting and stage chemistry delights listeners at every performance.
Hot Buttered Rum’s high energy performances are a quintessentially American experience – part hoe-down, part high art, part church, and part roadhouse.
A review by the San Francisco Chronicle says, “Few things rejuvenate the soul like a warm fireside drink after an exhausting day in the snow. Hot Buttered Rum has that effect. Their original songs are instantly familiar and inviting, and their easygoing versions of timeless classics (the Beatles, Hank Williams) belie the intricacy of the arrangements.”
Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. in the 100 block of N. Cloverdale Blvd. with the Certified Farmers Market, which also offers a variety of food booths. Local restaurants are open for early bird and late night specials. Craft beer, local wines and non-alcoholic beverages are available for purchase during the evening. Music begins at 7:00 p.m.
