Spotted in Cloverdale
Volunteers like Yvonne Jelton have been busy this week putting the finishing touches on orange exhibits for the 121st annual Cloverdale Citrus Fair slated to run from Feb. 15 to 18.. The theme this year is “Polynesian A’fair.”
A Pre-Fair Kick-off Party, featuring live music by local band Double Standyrd, will take place Thursday evening from 7 to 10 p.m. The $15 admission fee includes a complimentary glass of champagne, Polynesian appetizers by Catered by Patti & Friends and a no host bar.
Saturday morning at 11 a..m., come downtown for the Citrus Fair Parade that begins at Third Street and travels down Cloverdale Blvd. to the fairgrounds.
The weekend will be filled with a variety of activities including Talent Contests, a Diaper Derby, the Lily Lemon and Oran Orange competition, Citrus Fair Queen Scholarship Program, gourmet food shows, wine tasting, orange juice squeezing competitions, arts and crafts exhibits, 4-H animal competitions, musical entertainment and more. Butler Amusements will be back with their popular carnival rides and midway games.
Saturday and Sunday evening, be sure to catch the “Hulas and Homicide” Murder Mystery Dinner Theater that starts in the auditorium at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $40 each and pre-sale only. Call 894-3992 for reservations and information.
Unlike past years, the forecast calls for clear weather all weekend long. Temperatures are expected to range from the mid-60’s to the mid-70’s, with no rain in sight.
Doors open Friday at Noon. General admission is $7, $5 for children 6-12 and seniors 62 and over. Children 5 and under are free.
