Cloverdale “circles the wagons” for Cici

Cloverdale has always had a reputation for being a community of volunteers that “circle the wagons” when one of their own needs help.

That’s exactly what’s happening this Saturday night from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Citrus Fair when the Cloverdale Lions and the Cloverdale Kiwanis team up to host a joint fundraising dinner to benefit Cici and Ken Richardson.

Cici was recently diagnosed with cancer and funds from the event will help defray the mounting medical bills as she undergoes treatment.

The Richardsons have both been long time active community supporters. Ken is a member of the Lions Club and Cici belongs to Kiwanis.

A 1981 graduate of El Molino High School, she’s worked at the Animal Hospital of Cloverdale since 2002 and is often the first person people see when they bring their pets in for care

Whether she’s dancing her heart out at Friday Night Live or dressing up in costume for the Citrus Fair Parade, a Lions Club event or, as her bio on the Animal Hospital’s website says, “for no reason at all,” friends say the first word that comes to mind when they think of Cici is “joy.”

The evening will begin at 5 p.m. with an hour long no-host social hour with a full bar, followed by a Pasta Dinner from 6 to 8 p.m.

Dinner tickets are $20 each and can be purchased at the Animal Hospital, 20 Industrial Dr., or at The Mail Center, 207-A N. Cloverdale Blvd.  The catered dinner is being donated by the Hamburger Ranch.

For those unable to attend, but still wanting to help, donations can be made to the Ken and Cici Richardson Fund at any branch of Exchange Bank.

One of my great joys in life is a hug from Cici- so much love and life there…I will see you at the event

CiCi is more like the sparkler on the 4th of July. She gives every day of the year to others and this is an awesome way to say “thank you.”

I haven’t had a place to say it, but Cici has been in my thoughts a lot. She’s an amazing presence in Cloverdale and I think that’s felt by everyone here. Someone as positive, healthy, and loved as Cici has the odds in their favor when facing this. I hope nothing about this changes her or brings her down for a moment. I hope to see updates soon, too.

CiCi is one of my favorite people on the planet! She has helped me through so much with my animals, and is so kind and fun. She is in my thoughts and prayers. I cannot attend the event, but made my donation this past week. I will try to help more if possible! Cici, if you are reading this, if I kicked cancer’s ass you can too! Love you!!

Cici has been our friend, veterinary contact and cat sitter since we moved to Cloverdale. We love her to pieces and always enjoy the hugs and laughter she brings to every encounter. We are praying for a speedy recovery! Love you Cici!!!!

At my first Lion event with my Hubby, Cici heard my Hubby tell hers that I didn’t know anyone. Without hesitation, she put her arm through mine and introduced me around the room. I have loved her ever since ;) Cici shines light wherever she goes. I love Cloverdale for their ability to rally around their own. Hope to see y’all there!!!

Being a member of Kiwanis I am looking forward to Saturday night, and know it will be a great event and a heartfelt one. Cici is always there for everyone else, now it’s our turn to be there for her. She is such a happy, cheerful person and want to keep her in that “glow”.
