Nominees sought for Soroptomist Ruby Award

Soroptimist International of Cloverdale is seeking nominees for its 10th annual Soroptimist Ruby Award for Women Helping Women.

Carol Russell was presented with her Ruby Award at the Sorpotimist’s annual Corned Beef & Cabbage Dinner by Program Chair Julie St. John and then-President Jessalee Raymond.

This award honors women who make extraordinary efforts on behalf of women and girls, either through their professional or personal activities. Women can nominate themselves or another woman in the community.

The winner will be presented with a $250 cash grant to be donated to the charity of their choice

Carol Russell, the 2012 Ruby Award winner, was nominated on the basis of her lifetime work benefiting women through her former business, Russell Personnel, as well as her countless volunteer hours helping women with interview skills, resumes and tips on entering or re-entering the workforce.

Even in her “retirement,” Russell continues to help the community-at-large as a member of the Cloverdale City Council and the SMART Advisory Board.

Other past recipients have included Iris Konik, Theresa Burke, Marina Trevizo, Eleanor Webster, Bonnie Jean Hanchett, Shirley Black, Cathy DeMattei and Annette Lindenfield.

Nominations must be received no later than Saturday, December 15. They can either be mailed to P. O. Box 1022, Cloverdale CA 95425 or emailed to Julie@pedroncelli.com.
