Harvest Marathon welcomes runners and walkers
There’s still time to pre-register for Cloverdale’s 2nd Annual Harvest Marathon that takes place Sunday, October 21.
Sponsored by the Cloverdale Kiwanis, the event begins and ends at the Cloverdale Citrus Fairgrounds. Participants have their choice of competing in either the 26.2-mile Marathon, the 13.1-mile Half Marathon or the 5k Fun Run/Walk.
The Fairgrounds will open at 6 a.m. on Race Day for packet pick-up and on-site registration. Race Day registration may be possible if space is available, but organizers suggest checking their website or Facebook page for up-to-the-minute updates on space availability.
Both the Marathon and Half-Marathon begin at 7:30 a.m., while the 5k fun Run/Walk starts at 9 a.m
Entertainment will be provided by the popular Linda Ferro Band and there will be free activities for the kids. Cloverdale Ale from Ruth McGowan’s Brewpub and a selection of local wines will be poured. Food and beverages will be available for purchase, as well.
A pre-race Pasta Dinner will be served at the Citrus Fair Saturday night starting at 7 p.m. Register for the dinner when signing up for the race. The cost is only $10.
Those who decide to come to dinner after registering can drop an email to info@RunTheWineCountry.org so the cooks make sure to have plenty of food prepared
On the day of the event, a post-race BBQ dinner will be served at no cost for Marathon and Half Marathon participants, and just $7.50 for guests and 5k runners.
All proceeds from the Harvest Marathon benefit Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Cloverdale, which provides a high-quality, age-appropriate book to every Cloverdale child every month from birth until the age of five.
