What would YOUR slogan be?

Tuesday, January 24th, 2012 | Posted by | 17 responses

Check out the new Reader’s Poll posted on the Cloverdale TOWNS site.  (http://cloverdale.towns.pressdemocrat.com/)

The Chamber of Commerce has said they will be soliciting community input later this year for the design of next year’s billboard on the highway south of town.

What would your choice be for a brief, catchy slogan to encourage drivers to get off the highway and come visit Cloverdale?

  2. Well, it sure as heck would not be “Genuinely Cloverdale”…a plate a brownies and ten minutes with my fourth graders could do better. “Gateway to Mendocino” is a perfect slight to the whole darn town…
I figure “Gateway” was just fine before we started messing with it, but if I could write one myself, it would be…
“Cloverdale, A great place to be”, or something like that- something that embodies the fact that I know everyone I bump into (and like the majority of them), I can go to the events in town and see many friends, and I am surrounded by what I figure is one of the prettiest parts of the planet.

  6. All traffic on northbound 101 and heading out to the coast on 128 is directed to the last Cloverdale exit and then directed south on the frontage road….completely ‘bypassing’ town!

Why not spend some that billboard money and a little effort lobbying Caltrans to direct 128 traffic thorough town?

There will be those who don’t want that traffic in town, there will be those who want that business in town…but hey, it’s not 27 thousand cars and trucks every 24 hours! Remember that?!

  8. I saw it this past weekend. Looks like an ad for hotels that incidentally happen to be in Cloverdale with the most boring vineyard stock photo they could find.
    1) reduce the size of the hotels logos
    2) focus on an image of downtown/local character/arts. Focus on oranges in honor of the Citrus Fair or fiddles from the Fiddle fest or a photo from the Summer downtown concerts – you can get vineyards anywhere around here and they really don’t say anything about the character of the town or give any reason to pull off the highway.
    3) improve the contrast around the name – Cloverdale gets lost in the vineyard picture. Losing the vineyard photo and making the hotels smaller would help with that.

  9. Well, I can at least guarantee that it is NOT a stock photo, since I took it myself! I spent MANY hours post-editing to get the colors in CMYK as vivid as possible, the lighting just right, cropping, contrast, sharpness, etc. Anyway, no offense, Lance! It just goes to show that you can’t please everyone, just like with the slogan! ;)

  10. Why not drop the “C” and make it “Loverdale, the Wine Country Love Nest.”

  11. Cloverdale – Sonoma County’s Outdoor Playground
Let’s capitalize on what is unique and special and already established in Cloverdale – our great access to outdoor recreation. Yorty Creek, Russian River access, River Park, great roads for cycling, cycling events like the Asti Tour di Vinei, Cloverdale’s 1/2 Marathon, and beautiful sunny mornings (when most of the county is covered in fog), and warm nights.
